For 25 years, Amazing Spaces has opened the doors to some of South Africa’s most iconic homes — not just as film and photoshoot locations, but as places that stay with you. Now, we’re building our own.

Habitat by Amazing Spaces is the new development arm of our business. It’s where we take everything we’ve learned about what makes a home cinematic, memorable and meaningful — and turn it into spaces people can live in.

We launched with Sillery Oaks in Constantia — a contemporary farmhouse that balances drama with restraint. The kind of space that feels both grounded and transportive. Designed in partnership with Visser Architects, it’s a lived-in luxury that flows seamlessly between indoors and out, with the light, texture and tone you’d expect from a home crafted by a team who sees space through a cinematic lens.

Why now?

After decades of working in some of the country’s most extraordinary properties, it became clear: we weren’t just observing what made a space special — we were ready to build it ourselves. “So many of the owners we worked with on locations started asking us if we’d ever consider developing our own homes. And now, the answer is yes,” says Julia Finnis-Bedford, founder of Amazing Spaces.

What makes us different?

  • We bring the filmmaker’s eye to residential design — with attention to detail, light, line and atmosphere.

  • We only develop what we’d live in ourselves — homes with soul, story and site-specific sensitivity.

  • We partner with top-tier architects, craftspeople and landscapers who understand subtlety, beauty and purpose.

  • And we don’t follow formulas — we follow feeling. The sense that a space should be bold but livable, elevated but warm.

With every home we create, we ask: what will this feel like to walk through, to wake up in, to entertain in, to come home to? That sense of experience-led design is at the heart of everything we do.

What’s next?

Gilmour Heights is already in development — a sectional title project that continues our Habitat vision with considered materials, layered landscaping and liveable design. More projects are in early-stage planning. And as always, we’ll only release homes that we believe in.

Habitat is not a mass-market brand. It’s a promise to do things with care, creativity and context. To build spaces that tell a story. To design homes that feel different — and live even better.

From vision to living story. Welcome to Habitat.
